Two Zimbabweans have been arrested in Pretoria for possession of tower communications batteries.
The pair was arrested during an operation dubbed Okae Molao. Seventeen tower batteries were found in a house in Olivenhoutbosch.
South African police sources said the batteries were valued at R300 000 and belong to Telkom and MTN.
They were found inside the suspects' room covered with white plastics. Telkom private investigating officers came to the scene and confirmed 14 batteries belong to MTN and 3 to Telkom.
There has been an increase in the theft of batteries by foreigners in South Africa recently.
