Speaking at the fifth edition of the TelOne Centre For Learning graduation ceremony, Minister Muswere said with the advent of industry 4.0 institutions of learning need to integrate with new technologies and transform into producers rather than just consumers. He said the move was made a policy.
" The government has made is a policy that institutions of higher learning become a hub for some innovative ideas with the introduction of innovation hubs. TelOne centre has already taken a position to develop an Innovation Hub which will be the heartbeat of new products development," he said
The innovation hubs are expected to provide platforms where products and services are generated while skills in design, installation and maintenance of ICTs are nurtured in students.
The government has enunciated that technology is key and an enabler for Vision 2030 where industry 4.0 technologies such as artificial intelligence, data science, internet of things and big data analytics are a reality.
The minister applauded the institution for its continuous growth and efforts towards further empowering its students.
"I am aware that the college is not only offering the popular Telecommunications Diploma but also have a Telecommunications Degree which is being offered in partnership with National University of Science and Technology," he said.
Other programs students can enrol for as a result of the synergy include software engineering, data science, digital marketing and business analytics.
