A newly-LAUNCHED digital television device under the name Now TV allows people to carry out several activities on television among them electronic banking, games, live football, movies, electronic learning and carries social media platforms among others.

The device which is being promoted by veteran broadcaster Tich Mataz was launched on Thursday at The Venue in Avondale, Harare.

Mataz told the Daily News that Indonesian businesspeople in partnership with Chinese technicians are behind the device in partnership with local telecommunications firm Africom.

"I have been in broadcasting for long, with experience in both radio and television and I believe digital is the new trend. This is where the world is going and this device is a must have for all tech savvy people," he said.

Mataz has had a stint in Asian countries among them China and Indonesia together with popular preacher Paul Sanyangore. The Asian investors were also in attendance as the device was being launched explaining how it will help digitalise several sectors.

"It is through hard work and travelling that we got to meet these investors and I believe this device will be a game changer. It allows people to do a lot, there is live football EPL, movies, games, electronic shopping, education and banking and there are partners to it," he said.

Speaking at the launch, Energy minister Fortune Chasi said the partnership is a clear example of the Zimbabwe is open for business mantra, extending his invitation to the Chinese and Indonesians to also invest in the energy sector.
