Econet reviews data tariffs again

Zimbabwe's largest mobile network by subscriber base, Econet has increased its data tariffs for the second time in a month, piling pressure on the consumer. This review comes after the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe ( POTRAZ ) allowed for a 100% increase in voice tariffs three weeks ago and comes with changes in the network's data packages.

One could afford to get the 250MB daily bundle for $3.50 whereas now one has to pay $6.50 for 180MB. The social media bundles have also been increased but not as bad as the data bundles. To get 3 gigs of data on the monthly bouquet, Econet subscribers now need a good $200 and it is good to note that $2 used to afford one 2gigs of data.

The Whatsapp weekly package, which also had Pinterest+Sasai, was $3.50 for 65mb, but it is now going for $4. The social media bouquets have also been reviewed with a margin not as bad as with the data bouquets. The new data prices are as follows:
