The Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) and Palestine International Cooperation Agency (PICA) have reached an agreement to strengthen relations through an exchange programme between the ZBC staff and Palestinian media experts.

The move is aimed at equipping ZBC Staff with necessary skills to turnaround its operations as it prepares to open up more television channels.

The national broadcaster ZBC is on a massive drive to enrich its staff in terms of skills ahead of the opening of a 24 hour news channel and more other channels.

Addressing participants this Monday during the launch of an exchange programme being facilitated by PICA at ZBC Pockets Hill Studios in Highlands, Harare, Palestinian Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Her Excellency Mrs Taghrid Senouar said the exchange of cooperation in media will enrich the relationship between PICA and ZBC.

"We have discussed on what areas of cooperation to work on and find it good for us to be here for the exchange programme with the ZBC staff and we are doing 29 programmes in other nations," she said.

ZBC Chief Executive Officer Mr Patrick Mavhura emphasized the need for training of staff first which is in tandem with its quest to open a 24 hour news channel soon.

"I'm happy for the coming of people from Palestine to train our staff and we need to take it seriously for us to have the much need needed knowledge for us to have new television stations," he said.

The relationship between Zimbabwe and Palestine dates back to pre-independence era and the cooperation between the two nations continues to be cemented.
