As part of its huge feat to leapfrog communities into the future along with developed world, the Minister of ICT, Postal and Courier Services Hon Kazembe Kazembe has yet again opened the Charandura Community Information Centre (CIC), in Chirumhanzu in the Midlands Province.

This is the 147th CIC to be launched by the ministry through Potraz.

According to Kazembe Kazembe the CIC will not only give connectivity to the community but it will open up various opportunities for the country to catch up with the industrial revolution. Particularly in sectors that are of much relevance such as health and agriculture.

"We started the smart health program in Mutare that will assist patients with e-health facilities. Patients will not be burdened by travelling for consultations across the country rather, because of information and communication technologies in health, healthcare quality will improve and bring about efficiency in many ways,"

"The adoption of technology will also bring about precision farming where the practice of farming become more accurate and controlled when it comes to the growing of crops and raising livestock. ICTs will ensure that the crops and livestock receive exactly what they need for optimum health and productivity," he said.

The Minister said the Government, through State Owned Operators, were making efforts to roll out more fibre optic cables in all parts of the country so that everyone has access to Broadband Internet.

He added that the ICT Innovation Drive will also provide communities with employment through the innovative ICT solutions that they come up with in resolving problems they face in their day-to-day lives.
