The partnership was launched in Bulawayo and marks another feat for NetOne, as a development oriented company with impetus on empowering the youth.

Google a subsidiary of the Alphabet company has targeted educating 100 000 young Africans on how to code for website and mobile applications. The enrolment and training up to certification is free.

At least 75 students from tertiary institutions, around the country have been selected to participate in the certification programme.
NetOne's chief executive Lazarus Muchenje said the company will provide resources in the form of Internet access and hubs or spaces to the participants.

Elevate Trust will mentor and monitor the programme to ensure that participants achieve the certification status, and place Zimbabwe on the map of global software developers.

"NetOne believes in supporting programs that not only benefit the participating students, but all stakeholders and the country at large.  As NetOne the network of choice, we are confident that resources at hand will put the world at your finger-tips, as the World become one," he said.

"The certification program is but one of many NetOne will endeavour to support, to complement government efforts in capacitating the youths, who are our future," he added.
