Zimpost, NetOne and Potraz get new Board members

Minister of Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services Honorable Kazembe Kazembe today finally announced the new members for state enterprises Zimpost, and additional NetOne  Cellular and Potraz board. The pronouncement was authorized by His Excellency the President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

In pronouncing the new board members, Honorable Kazembe implored them to be active participants in their various capacities.

"I congratulate the new board members appointed to NetOne Cellular, Zimpost and Potraz boards and I look forward to your active participation in the issues that contribute to the turnaround of the organizations," said Honorable Kazembe.

The Zimpost board will be chaired by former board member Kainet Moyo who will be deputized by Mike Juru. Other board members are Andrew Matiza, Newman Nyamhuri, Chipo Boka Nyakudya, Takawira Nzombe and Dr Sibongile Moyo. The new board has a mammoth task of turning around the fortunes of the entity which has been underperforming.

"The Zimpost board is not yet adequate, there are still a couple of slots that are still outstanding and we are looking for the best people to fill in those slots."

"For the Zimpost board members I don't envy you, we expect a complete turnaround of Zimpost.Currently, they are facing challenges,I know they have great ideas but we hope and trust that you will help them by giving them direction," said Honorable Kazembe.

The NetOne Cellular board which had two vacant slots saw the addition of two other members Keuemetsi Setoboli Mpandawana and Sibonile Dhliwayo.

The last pronouncement was that of Dr Thomas Utete-Ushe who has joined the Potraz board.

Minister Kazembe also clarified that the new appointments are part of an ongoing process that will see more people with special skillsets joining the various boards and they are taking their time in doing so as a precautionary measure.

"We take our time because we do not want to make the same mistakes that we have made before and we are trying to look for the best brains around, people whom we feel can add value and most importantly people who are clean and do not have a terrible history behind them," added Honorable Kazembe.

The new board members are drawn from various sectors ranging from banking to human resource management where they have been performing well and their appointments are based purely on merit.

"You come from diverse professional backgrounds and have over the years accumulated rich and valuable experience that will lift the three organizations to higher levels. The Ministry looks forward to working with you in delivering on the strategic mandates of NetOne Cellular, Zimpost and Potraz," said Honorable Kazembe.

The appointments of all the new board members are with effect from the 1st of June 2019 and their tenure of office is 4 years.
