This came out during the ISO certification of the Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) in Harare on Friday.
The Minister of Energy and Power Development, Fortune Chasi said adopting quality management systems is critical for Zimbabwe.
"Adopting such quality management system implies that processes are standandised, clearly spelt out, standandised timeframes are set and responsibilities and procedures are clearly defined," he said.
The Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Dr Gloria Magombo said they are making sure that all companies under her ministry are ISO certified to manage energy efficiently.
"All state enterprises should be ISO certified in terms of various quality management systems to ensure that their processes and procedures are standardised and meet international requirements".
ZERA Acting CEO, Mr Eddington Mazambani warned companies in the energy sector that non-compliance to standards will result in licences being withdrawn or cancelled.
He revealed that two companies have so far had their licences cancelled for various violations of the requirements.
