State-Owned Telecommunications Operator, TelOne is set to introduce Smart-homes by the end of this year, TechnoMag has learnt.

Speaking to the Minister of ICT, Postal and Courier Services Kazembe Kazembe and the Permanent Secretary Engineer Sam Kundishora during a tour of the TelOne stand at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) TelOne Marketing Manager Maureen Mataranyika said developments of the system are underway and will soon be ready for use.

"We are still developing smart-homes and we are expecting that by the end of the year they will be complete and ready for customer use," she said.

TelOne smart-homes will enable the use of electric home appliances such as microwaves, electric kettle and operating of the television or radio remotely by the use of smartphones.

Any device in the home that uses electricity can be put on the home network and at your command. Whether you give that command by voice, remote control, tablet or smartphone, the home reacts.
