Econet Buddie Beatz music app launched

Econet Wireless Zimbabwe held an official virtual launch of the exciting Buddie Beatz music app on Friday. Through the app, customers will enjoy unlimited music from top artists in different genres such as gospel, Zimdancehall, hip hop, Afro jazz, Afro-fusion, sungura, and others.

With just a click of the button, customers are now able to stream or download music from their favourite artists while they are offline. The app also has an option where one can create their own playlists and share songs with their friends and family.

While downloading the app is free, music streaming and downloading comes at an affordable cost. Subscription for the app is $0.50 per day,$2 per week and $5 per month.

The Buddie Beatz app is poised to be a hit with many music lovers due to its compatibility with Android phones which are very popular in Zimbabwe. The version for Apple users will be availed soon.

For musicians, smartphone apps have been a viable way to distribute their music, keep fans informed on the latest music and for local artists, this app is a good and innovative move.

Local musicians were invited for the official virtual launch of the Buddie Beatz music app and they welcomed the move by Econet Zimbabwe in assisting them realize something from their music.

Speaking at the launch, renowned gospel music sensation Minister Michael Mahendere whose music has been on Buddie Beatz for four years was excited to have such an app.

"I think that is special news and great news for everyone in Zimbabwe and you can now easily access our music wherever you are on your phone," said Mahendere

Urban grooves artist Roki spoke on how the app will stop the illegal sale of music.

"The good thing about this new Buddie Beatz app is it looks like it's going to give piracy the boot," said Rocqui.

Veteran sungura artist Madzibaba Nicholas Zakaria could not hide his excitement

"I have joy in my heart because all Khiama Boys songs from the 80s will be available on the app.I would like to encourage new artists to embrace such a platform to curb piracy."

All the artists who attended the launch were happy for such a unique initiative and the respect shown by Econet to embrace them as important stakeholders. They were also univocal on how the app will go a long way in closing revenue leakages such as piracy and improve their music sales through downloads.
