The unwieldy use of paper to record and process requisite documentation in government institutions will be a thing of the past soon as line ministries and parastatals firmly embark on the digital transformation journey.

In a notice published yesterday, the Mines ministry revealed that it has gone to tender for the supply of laptops. At the same time, Zimbabwe Asset Management Corporation (Zamco) also revealed that it is seeking the delivery of laptops after inviting bidders to a domestic competitive tender.

Zimbabwe Revenue Authority is also seeking the supply of desktops, laptops and printers, which follows its recent digital online voluntary compliance scheme. This comes as most governments in Africa have already gone digital.

In Zimbabwe, most government institutions still heavily rely on paper, causing most people to travel long distances to get services.
