BancABC struggling to restore internet and mobile banking channels

Atlas Mara Zimbabwean unit, BancABC's banking system has been down since last week Monday leaving thousands of customers stranded.

Customers trying to transact using all the bank's Internet and Mobile banking channels are still facing challenges. The shutdown is having an outsize impact on customers who heavily rely on using banking services thus business has been adversely affected.

BancABC customers are having challenges in accessing their money and some are waiting outside the bank for hours hoping the system shutdown would be rectified. The mobile banking platform which uses the short code *242# is inaccessible.

Below is the latest notice from BancABC

BancABC wishes to advise its valued customers that over the Bank has experienced system challenges over the past week and it has taken longer than expected to correct the issues.

The Bank has restored the following services which are fully functional and available in all our branches.

1. RTGS transfers
2. Cash withdrawals and deposits
3. VISA card deposits and withdrawals. Customers also can use VISA cards for online payments, travel and ATM withdrawals internationally.
4. Bank to Wallet transactions
5. Telegraphic Transfers
6. Remittances services
7. Inter account transfers
8. POS terminals
9. BancABC cards

Internet and Mobile banking channels are however not yet restored and should be available shortly.

BancABC continues to see high call volumes and social media traffic, and our team members are tirelessly working to resolve customer queries. To make up for lost up-time we will be extending our branch operating hours from 8am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 1pm on Saturday so as to ensure that customers get full service.

In addition, our Contact Centre remains available to our valued customers and will be operating from 7am to 8pm Monday to Sunday.
