Zimbabwe signs cyber security MOU with Indian university

The government recently signed an MOU with Indian University, Gujarat Forensic Science University on cyber security capability and workforce development, a government official has said.

Addressing delegates at Midlands State (MSU) University, Gweru Campus recently during an Information and Communications Technology (ICT) workshop, the deputy minister of Information, Communication, Technology, Postal and Courier Services Hon. Dr Muswere said the move will help to strengthen Zimbabwe cyber sector.

"I am pleased to share with you that, the government recently signed an MOU with the Gujarat Forensic Science University (India) to collaborate on cyber security capability and workforce development," said the Deputy minister.

The government has developed a cyber, data protection and electronic transaction bill to address the challenges posed by criminal activities in the use of information, communication and technology.

The workshop was organised by the ITS department with Zilab consultants delivering a presentation that covered information security, Hacking, password cracking and security education.
