ICT Parliament Portfolio Committee Chairman Charlton Hwende has been banned from using social media as part of his bail conditions.

Hwende who was recently arrested at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport last week was granted $3 000 bail. He has been ordered to refrain from social media and to desist addressing people at political gatherings.

Allegations are that sometime in December last year, Hwende shared a post via micro blogging site, Twitter, which authorities alleged to have incited violence that led to the death of seventeen people early this year according to the Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission.

According to the allegations leveled against the opposition member, his actions were treasonous.
