The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Development says the computerisation of the learners drivers licence is 95% complete.

Speaking during a cabinet briefing yesterday, Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Honorable Monica Mutsvangwa said Transport and Infrastructural Development Minister Joel Biggie Matiza gave a progress report on the 100 day progress on project the ministry is currently working on.

"The computerization of the learners drivers licences at VID Eastlea under a public-private partnership is 95%complete,"

The procurement and installation of the hardware and the software has been completed, what remains is linking the platform to the SAP paying system," she added.

The Vehicle Inspectorate Department (VID) last year spoke on how it was to introduce electronic Provisional Drivers' Licence aptitude examinations as part of a raft of new measures to reduce rampant corruption in the acquisition of driver's licences.

Corruption at the VID has been cited as one of the key contributors to the increase in accidents on the country's roads and computerization is a means to curb the fraudulent conduct.
