The government launched the cybersecurity booklet and the Zimbabwe information sharing and analysis center portal meant to address issues of cyber fraud and crime.

This comes a few days after the Ministry of ICT, Postal and Courier Services launched the National Cyber Security Week to raise awareness on issues of cybersecurity.

The portal is set to create a platform for response and information sharing for both victims and law enforcement forces and create linkages that will help prevent similar offences.

"The portal gives a coordinating approach on how to respond and act on cybersecurity issues. The response will be in real time, actionable and will help in emergency response while capacitating law enforcement agents on the type of crimes prevailing so that they can play their constitutional role," said Zvavanjanja Greeyps, a risk efficiency and development consultant.

"The cybersecurity booklet, on the other hand, will educate people on measures that can be taken to protect themselves from cyber fraud and how to protect children who use the internet," said Engineer Jacob Kudzayi Mutisi, the Zimbabwe Information and Communication Technology (ZICT) Chairman.

The National Cyber Security Week, running under the theme: 'Think Before Click,' started on Monday and will end on the 10th this month.

The week is aimed at raising awareness on cybersecurity issues to give people an appreciation of the importance of cybersecurity.
