Speaking to TechnoMag, during the ICT Parliamentary Portfolio Committee Seminar in Kadoma, the Minister said they are also going to be activating the National Cyber Security Week which is starting today.

" The Cyber Bill comes from SADC template , which we then conform to the Zimbabwean ICT environment" adding "the bill itself is still going through developments which go through various channels for approval," he said

The bill is a product of wide range consultation that has been ongoing from the time Hon Supa Mandiwanzira was the ICT minister, though there is also serious anxiety on the bill that it may be used to clamp down on social media.

The government however allayed such fears stating that the bill is there to protect citizens against crime and online criminology , and is there to strengthen the state against perpetrators while it protects the citizens.

The Cyber Security Week will run from the 3rd to the 10 of December 2018 under the theme 'Think B4 Click'.
