A KWEKWE High School History teacher has broken barriers after he introduced e-learning material where students can access material on social media platforms as well internet and cds.

Manners Msongelwa who is also the Zimbabwe History Teachers Association (ZHTA) president introduced the material that can be accessed on YouTube, WhatsApp platforms and other social media platforms.

Some of the material was also put on compact disks. Msongelwa said the move was necessitated by the need to move with the times.

"We want to close the technological gap and integrate ICT into learning. Gone are the days when students are reading books but they want material that is up to date with technology hence the idea. So we have introduced material that students can access on CDs and YouTube. They can also share the material using WhatsApp platforms," he said.

Teaching becomes convenient and relevant, he said.

"To those studying History at advanced level, this is a way of learning History using the most convenient way made possible. We can now disseminate History notes using portable CDs or even via other social media platforms," he said

He said the lessons contained on the CDs offer insightful analyses on regional and international affairs topics and students can easily follow them on WhatsApp and YouTube.

"The advantage of such learning is that one can rewind, pause or do anything with the lesson. A student can play the CD over and over again unlike a lesson where one attends once and has nowhere to ask after the lesson," he said.
