Kazembe Kazembe, the new minister of ICT and Cyber Security, has dissolved the entire board of the state-owned Mobile Network Operator, NetOne.

At this stage, it is not clear as to why the board was dissolved.

The Permanent Secretary in the ministry of ICT, Eng Sam Kundishora confirmed that the minister has with immediate effect dismissed the NetOne board.

"I can confirm that the minister has dismissed the board, more reasons will be sent to you formally, but it is a fact of the matter that the board ceases operation with immediate effect."

This comes months after the company's CEO, Lazarus Muchenje was suspended of unilaterally dismissing nine exco members.

Most sections suspect that the dismissals are connected to Muchenje vs NetOne debacle which has caused a lot of controversies.

The government is undertaking a raft of State enterprise reforms under which 16 entities will be privatised, 13 parastatals merged while two others will be liquidated.

NetOne, TelOne, POSB, IDBZ and Agribank will be partially privatised along with subsidiaries of the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) which include Zim Glass, Allied Insurance, Surface Investments, Zimbabwe Grain Bag, Ginhole Investments, Chemplex Corporation, Deven Engineering and G & W Minerals.

This is a developing story and we will be updating as and when we get new information.
