With school holidays around the corner, the annual migration to popular beach destinations and relatives' homes is about to begin. Thanks to the DStv Now app, DStv subscribers don't need to take their dishes and decoders on holiday with them to watch live sports, movies and series.
DStv Now is an on-demand streaming service available to all DStv subscribers at no additional cost. It allows subscribers to keep watching their favourite channels like M-Net, Mzansi Magic and SuperSport live, exactly like they do at home, and access a catalogue of movies and series episodes to watch on demand. All that's needed is an internet connection and the right device.
To use the service, go online and register for DStv Now. Create a username and password, use an internet browser to stream DStv online or download the DStv app to a smart device. Log in and start watching. DStv Now is available for phones, tablets, desktop computers, laptops, gaming consoles and smart TVs.
1. Download the DStv Now app from the Google Play or Apple App Store.
2. Launch the app, log in and start watching.

1. Connect the TV to the internet using an ethernet cable or Wi-Fi.
2. Access the App Store on the smart TV or media player and search for "DStv Now". If supported, the app will be displayed; click install.
3. Once installed, the app will display a code on the TV screen.
4. On a laptop or desktop, go to now.dstv.com/tv. (Users will be prompted to sign in before being able to link the smart TV.)
5. Enter the code, sign in and start watching.
How to watch DStv without an internet connection
Not everyone has Wi-Fi access at their holiday homes. Before leaving for holiday, open the DStv Now app on a smartphone or tablet while connected to Wi-Fi. Go to the Catch Up section of the app to find and download up to 25 movies or series episodes. Select a lower quality setting when downloading to save space on the device. Items are available for 30 days, but once playback has started, they will need to be watched within 48 hours before they expire.
Get discounted video data bundles for DStv Now
There is also the option to watch DStv using mobile data, and discounted video-only data bundles are now available from most providers.
Vodacom has a good deal on at the moment. Get 1GB of DStv Now data for R50. That's up to 4 hours of binge-watching on the lowest quality setting. Dial *135# on a Vodacom phone and select 'DStv Now' from video bundles.
Tip: select 'Low' under Video Quality settings to use less data and watch more episodes.
