Zera seeks public input on private power producers

THE Zimbabwe Regulatory Authority has invited public objections to two firms that have applied for an electricity generation licence.

According to the notices which are in terms of Section 4(3) of the Electricity (Licensing) Regulations, Schweppes Zimbabwe Limited and Zhenje Solar Park (Private) Limited are vying to generate power for own use and for commercial purposes respectively.

"…Zera has received an application from Schweppes Zimbabwe Limited to construct, own, operate and maintain a 1-megawatt solar photovoltaic rooftop power plant…."

"…Zera has received an application from Zhenje Solar Park (Privet) Limited to construct, own, operate and maintain a 33 MW Solar Power Plant at Makokoro area in Seke District Mashonaland East...," reads part of the notice.

Zera stated that anyone wishing to make representations should do so within 14 working days and before May 10.
