South Korea eyes Zimbabwe ICT sector

The Republic of South Korea has embraced Zimbabwe's reengagement and engagement drive with South Korean business people warming up to investment opportunities in Zimbabwe's ICT sector.

South Korean ambassador to Zimbabwe Mr Cho Jai -Che said there has been an increase in tourist arrivals from South Korea to Victoria Falls in the last one year and investors are becoming aware of the environment in Zimbabwe.

Mr Cho Jai-Che was speaking at the handover ceremony of office equipment and vehicles for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade in Harare this Thursday morning.

The vehicles and equipment are aimed at improving the ministry's efficiency and capacity following the addition of an extra mandate dealing with international trade.

Ambassador Cho Jai Che said South Korea is ready to share experiences with Zimbabwe in ICT and energy sectors.

Through the Korea International Cooperation Agency, South Korea provides short-term and university scholarships, while the South Korea programme for international agriculture centre opened in Harare in 2016. It focuses on research and development to support agriculture.

South Korea has also supported the Scientific and Industrial Research and Development Centre to the tune of $100 000.
