Going Digital or another GoDigitalGate

Amongst the Twitter streets of Zimbabwe this week my eye was caught by a stunning by discourse fixated to a certain Post by a certain Twitter user with the following contents, "School Heads are crying in Mash West after a Company which is virtually unknown called GoDigital Zimbabwe is conducting compulsory workshops for all schools at $25 per Session and $650 for creating a Website. Heads suspect that this is a corrupt initiative", which prompted me as an IT Teacher to look more into the shared details and verify this alarming discourse along the following prompts;

Why is the Ministry Marketing a Website Making Company?

From the shared Information the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education is undergoing a paradigm whereby they are encouraging every school to Digitalize so as to catch up with Global Standards. Is it a bad thing to digitalize Zimbabwe schools?, not at all e-governance is the future and one cannot ignore its impact and value is bringing to competitiveness to this world. What then is the problem, as an IT Teacher I feel Website Design is not a service that can only be attributed to be monopolized by a single Company, every school I think has the right to have anyone designing it's a website as long as such would give the School to give convenience Value. Is it justified to have a Ministry conduct Compulsory $25 school funded workshop to promote Website Design?, Excuse me I think so, but such standards should be attributed to Zimbabwe the only country in the 21st Century whereby even designing a website is considered as an innovation.

Is GoDigital the only Company with Individuals who can design websites in Zimbabwe?, not at all, there are so many companies and even students at my Computer Science Class can do it. Then is the Ministry really going about holding compulsory $35 schools funded workshops to promote a Website Company?, no from a workshop I attended we had gone in the pretest of attending a workshop to learn about Website Designing and then the Presentation was convoluted for GoDigital claimed to posses an innovative School Management Software as part of their package, and yes the more they are pressed to answer some questions they only dwell much on their Websites and Bulk SMS and least on their Software. Is there a syndicate the Public is not told about going on, no I do not know I guess one has to maintain his own point of view, investigate more and rely upon the acquired knowledge to develop a theory.

Is GoDigital Virtually Invisible? If so who is GoDigital?

From an existential point of View yes GoDigital is virtually invisible for there is no Public Record of the Company's past success on a Pilot Study in its Partnership with the Ministry of Education except for in $25 School Funded workshops attended by top Ministry of Education officials preaching innovation as only can be realized in Zimbabwe through association with GoDigital, and no they are virtually visible in appearance and should one type GoDigital Zimbabwe, he or she is bound to be directed to their Website and Listed in their Home Page it is indeed written, "Offering Stunning Websites", which is beefed up by evidence of clients they have designed websites for. Going down to the Services they claim to offer I couldn't help but notice that they offer;

• Websites Design
• Bulk SMS
• Hosting •
 School Management System
Since Web Design, Bulk SMS and Hosting is common amongst Public Discourse, I was prompted to look deep into the School Management System Package they offer, for the technology might not be new in Technology Vocabulary as I know of Fedena in India, Edupac in Capetown and Inilabs School Management Software from India, Academy Report from Zimbabwe, EduCloud and other Companies, but this technology is still under construction and its Consumers are yet to discern based on which of them bring them Value, hence my interests where based in seeing what they had in their package I couldn't help but came across what I feel the Zimbabwean Public needs to be clarified to on what is going on. Clicking in the Service Variable written "School Management System" one is directed to a topic written "Educloud", searched based on the Internet Search or Google PlayStore EduCloud was developed and still owned by Indian Developers?, Our Innovative GoDigital Developers working from India?, I really do not know that, maybe GoDigital and the Ministry can help with that answer. As one clicks down where it is written Download Product Profile surprisingly he/she is not at least connected to the URL but to a PDF Document. Does the Document consistently maintain that what is provided is EduCloud?, not at all it speaks about School Management System, what it does, and as for the name, in appearance GoDigital is offering a Software and its name is very murky. Does GoDigital know the name, I think so, Does the Ministry of Education know the name of the Software, maybe some and then I do not know again?, do schools know the Software?, they are told that its GoDigital yet again they do not know at all. What does the Profile Document reveal about the name then?, here is the most interesting Part of GoDigital, there is a contradiction from the advertised Information before the PDF and in the PDF and here where my observations from the Profile which is Publicly available.

Figure 1

In Page 4 of their Profile Document they claim to have within the Package a Certificate Management Module, should one look deep into the Certificate there are faint words there and one can't help but notice that its written "Inilabs School Management System" .If all their advertising words are visible then what makes this one so faint?, my assumption is clear, it's the work of graphic designing or photoshoping, it is not an accident that other words are fainted but it is by design that someone is trying to hide something, unluckily maybe that somebody is not smart enough to even hide what he wants to hide.

Figure 2

I couldn't help but admire figure 2 as depicted in page 9 of the Publicly available Document, first the Student Name there is written as "Dipok Kumar Halder". One would wonder, did GoDigital forget to faint the name or they thought there would be no one critical enough to ask a question on why would Zimbabwean Developers who happen to be from a Shona-Ndebele dominated Society would imagine a student with a name of Dipok Kumar Halder, whilst we have our own Tsitsis, Sifelanis, Chinotimbas, Kudzayi, Sibangilizwes, etc. Then the question continues again, who is GoDigital and why GoDigital and the Ministry of Education in the first place?

Figure 3

This is depicted in page 18 of the Information provided by GoDigital and even after some fainting the School is "Inilabs School". Remember this is not the Information coming as a figment of my imagination but just public available information as provided by a Company which is about to make approximately 3.5 million dollars from the fees paid by hardworking and struggling Parents within a month. Shouldn't we be asking how it is these local developers are too much in using Inilabs in their Profile or there is much to it more than you can imagine?

Figure 4

Misleading someone to suit your goal is not a bad thing maybe in Zimbabwe, but if you are to try and trick public maybe someone will have to be smart enough to conceal the trails. There is no way in Zimbabwe School ever since I have been a teacher and came across a subject called Bangla, not even in the new Curriculum and what is really going on here?, maybe the Ministry of Education needs to explain something for there is something wrong here.

When asked in the Mandatory $25 School Funded Workshop GoDigital gave a link to the software they are providing for Demonstration and the link is http://yourpreschool-co-za.stackstaging.com/school/signin/index and with this link there are always two possibility, its either Google will tell you that it is not available or it will mysteriously lead you to another end, one will be directed to a certain PreSchool Platform with South African Address and Contact Details and then when one wants to access the provided demonstration he/she is automatically directed to the below shown graphic Presentation;

Funny enough it turns out that the Software Name then may be IniLabs School Management System provided by GoDigital. Does the Ministry of Education know that?, maybe they do or don't, who cares this is in Zimbabwe. What is the connection between IniLabs, GoDigital and the Zimbabwe Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education?

Who is IniLabs School Management System now again?

Of course everyone knows who the Zimbabwe Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education is right, there is a Minister, Permanent Secretary, Directors from various Departments, Provincial Education Directors, District School Inspectors, School Heads, Hardworking Teachers, School Development Committees and of Course Schools, where we send our children everyday to go and learn to be better citizens of society tomorrow, then GoDigital again the Ministry of Education has recently been having schools to fund its workshops with $25, they are about to make approximately 3.5million United States Dollars within a month, they claim in their Presentation, where a group of Intellectuals are listening that they are in partnership with Youtube and Google to look big and no one even find it cognitively repugnant and disturbing but people clap their hands, but little is known about IniLabs. From the Internet available Information IniLabs is an Indian Open Source Software  which allows one to buy it for US$19.95 at Ebay, EnvatoMarket and sell it any preferable price, thus as depicted from the latest market as from 1 November 2018;

Oh wait a minute then what is the connection between GoDigital and IniLabs?, I will leave to to the Public to have GoDigital and the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education to explain what is really going on.

What does the Mathematics say?

Calculated from an assumption that Zimbabwe has 9600 schools or more and then Zimbabwe and 90% of them gets to attend these $25 School Funded Mandatory Workshops then GoDigital before Workshop Expenditure will make US$216, 000 before even offering the Service to the Zimbabwean Public. Then lets consider that 90% of Zimbabwean Schools get to pay for both the Website Design (US$450) + System (US$120) then it means that before the service is delivered to the Zimbabwean Public GoDigital would have made US$4, 924 800.00 from this schools. Well we are talking about US$4million for just designing a Website and an enigmatic Software, which the Zimbabwean Public is yet to get a name of it? Let us consider  for once that GoDigital based on the Information they share as part of their product Profile are bluffing and are offering another Product which is IniLabs then why would a Company offering Public Service offer misleading Information on their Profile?, if they are selling IniLabs School Management System of course I do respect that they have a right to adopt any enterprising model, however still the fact that the Public is not told what is really going on is a little bit disturbing and I find it interesting that someone is about to make millions of Dollars just through the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education promotion for a Website and yet to be known Software, and should the Software be IniLabs then it would be quite worse having someone buy something Online and then selling to the Zimbabwean Public at a 3000% Profit and no one thinks there is something wrong about

What has Stakeholders affected been saying about this?

There is already an uproar amongst the Education Stakeholders and people are very suspicious. For Instance in the $25 School Funded Mandatory Workshops Teachers and Headmasters were already questioning the motive behind such, and there are some other stakeholders who also feel that the Public is duped like me. In a workshop we were told that should a school decide not to go with GoDigital then it risks not getting the IT Equipment which shall be coming from the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education and the Republic of Zimbabwe Vice President, when pressed by concerned teachers if such Computers where coming from GoDigital by a certain School Head and several IT Colleagues it was revealed that the Computers where coming from the Ministry of Education, should one go with such a premise then again it is thought provoking why and how would a branch of the Executive Government(not of a Private Church) allow a Private Company to abuse its name deliberately without saying anything?, again no one knows.

What does it mean for Market Competition?

In the Tech world it has been highlighted that the more the Competition the more the Public is likely to enjoy effective and affordable Service Delivery, hence one wonders why would the Ministry of Primary and Secondary go about promoting a Private Company making Websites whilst we have so much Companies throughout Zimbabwe making Websites?, no one knows again. Is the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education advocating for a Monopoly in Zimbabwean Tech Services related to schools?, if there are other Digital Companies offering almost similar Services has been the Ministry been consistent and motivated in marketing their products?, if not why so much motivation with GoDigital?, Is it the merits which makes GoDigital so special, or GoDigital is very well connected with the top?, if it's the connections not the merits then again if that is allowed is it not corruption and collusion?, to whose benefit?, is the Ministry implying that we are wasting our time and hard earned resources by sending our children to schools for they do not need Education which will make them competitive in future but they just need to start looking for connections at the age of 1 to make it in Zimbabwe? What does it mean to other hardworking Zimbabwean programmers who are a product of the same Ministry that raised them?, I think it is quite humiliating and the notion that hard work in Zimbabwe might not the only key to success but one needs to be connected too is quite demotivating. Surely if there was competition then the Ministry would be the Primary benefiter in Value created in the Process, then if so why protect and promote a single Company?

What about Sustainability and Good Service Delivery?

It is quite suspicious that every Policy maker knows that there factors associated with any change, the Ministry is asking for Schools to digitalize (which is good), but to have such a change implemented at a speed of light is quite frightening on the Sustainability and Good Service. Should they be selling an Online purchased Software, which appears might be the case till clarification is given, then who is going to be upgrading it?, who will be held accountable if it fails to offer Value for Business?, again no one knows that yet.

Going Digital or GodigitalGate?

I have my own conclusion, it remains my conclusion, neither a fact nor Public Opinion. I hereby challenge all upstanding Zimbabwe citizens to give this issue the attention it deserves, ask questions, avoid a Gwanda Solar Project gigantic fiasco and have it known to the Public what is really going on?, who is GoDigital?, is GoDigital now the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education?, does the Ministry own GoDigital Zimbabwe?, do the Ministry of Education officials own GoDigital?, does GoDigital own then Ministry of Education Zimbabwe?, or GoDigital is the progenitor of Digitalization in the Universe?, why is there too much of IniLabs Software in GoDigital?, doesn't the Ministry of Education have a well drilled to verify the Profile of anyone whom the Ministry is about to force into the Public or there is something not told to the Public?
