The People's Own Savings Bank (POSB) has partnered with Radio Zimbabwe in a campaign to increase its customer base by at least 300 000 new account holders.

The campaign at Murambinda to open people's choice and youth accounts with zero minimum balance was met with jubilation as Radio Zimbabwe took its listeners to yester-year memories playing Paul Mpofu's hit song Murambinda, much to the delight of the crowds gathered.

In an interview on the sidelines of the roadshow, POSB Regional Manager Mutare Cluster Mrs Fabbie Ngomberume says the current campaigns target to increase the bank's customers from the current 700 000 to at least 1 million.

She says it is important for people to bank their money stating that pooling resources together will have a positive impact on development as banks will be able to finance the productive sectors of the economy.

"It is important to open bank accounts as the move will not only help the account holders but the country's economy will become more stable. We are targeting to increase our client base to at least a million," said Mrs Ngomberume.

Radio Zimbabwe listeners says they are happy that the country's leading station held a road show in their area with the commendable initiative of opening bank accounts requiring zero deposit.

"We are delight that Radio Zimbabwe personalities are here. We are happy to open accounts with POSB," one listener who attended the road show said.

Due to its wide listenership base, Radio Zimbabwe has become the favourite station of most advertisers who wish to reach out to a larger audience.
