YOUNG Bulawayo-based tech entrepreneur Thamsanqa Bhala has designed a free announcement app for schools.

The mobile phone application allows schools to send out announcements to parents, guardians and students free of charge.

The app helps to reduce the costs incurred by schools in print newsletters and notification materials.

According to Bhala the mobile application known as Llorut "is a free announcement app which allows schools to publish announcements and notifications parents, guardians and students.

"The mobile app is currently available for download for android phones and can be downloaded from Google play store," he said.

Bhala said the app was crucial and effective in the sense that parents and guardians will be up to date with any important notifications.

Already Founders High and Kumalo Primary schools have led from the front by actively using the app to send out announcements to parents.

Bhala also indicated that over 10 schools have since taken up the app for use in their communication systems.

"The schools have created accounts which they use to log in and publish the announcements.

"Parents and students were asked to download the app and sign up to view the school announcements.

"The requirements for signing up are a valid email address and mobile phone number, the last six digits of the phone number are automatically the password," Bhala noted.

He also said tutorials on how to create a school accounts are available on YouTube for schools to learn how to create accounts.

"No payment is needed when creating the account. Any school can sign up to publish announcements from any android device."

Bhala has created a number of apps and is operating a publishing company which publishes children books.
