It took a long time coming, but its finally here! Have you ever wanted to use your airtime for something else but before you know your smartphone quickly deducts your balance on background application.

Mobile Network Operator NetOne, has heeded to demands, by giving convenience and control to users through introducing an Out of Bundle Browsing (OBB).

Out of Bundle Browsing restriction, is a service that allows you to choose
whether or not you want your phone to be able to access the internet when you don't have an active data bundle.

For most smartphone owners, it's an answered prayer as it gives massive airtime savings because without OBB, smartphones would access the internet without the knowledge of the user and perform automatic updates. With OBB, however, if there is no bundle, then there is no internet access.

"The recent tests echo the Back to Basics philosophy where we are focusing on the need to get the basics right; and with the introduction of OBB, subscribers will have the freedom to save airtime and derive value from the NetOne products and services on offer," said NetOne Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Lazarus Muchenje.

To test the service subscribers can follow the simple instructions below:

Dial *130# and select option 1 - Out of Bundle Charging

This takes you to the main menu where you can:

1.Select option 1 - Allow (permits the use of airtime for data connectivity).
2. Select option 2 - Block (restricts the use of airtime for data connectivity).
3. Select option 3 - this gives you a status report and this last feature is something NetOne's competition doesn't currently offer.
